What are the different Nishijin play trays?

Nishijin has been making Pachinko machines for a very long time. We have identified six different types of plastic play trays used on vintage pachinko machines.

While each version below is displayed from oldest to newest, it is not uncommon for an older model pachinko machine to have a newer version of a play tray, or a newer model to have an older version of a play tray.

Read information about the Nishijin Models.

Nishijin Play Tray – Version A

These play trays are only found on Nishijin Model A Single Ball Conversion pachinko machines. During the time when Nishijin was converting their machines, several types of conversion kits were used like the following.

Nishijin Play Tray – Version B

This is only found on Nishijin Model A Front Overflow pachinko machines.

Nishijin Play Tray – Version C

These two versions are found primarily on Nishijin Model A and Model B pachinko machines. Note that the trays are both the same even though they are different colors. The only difference is in the clear window frame to the right of the tray. We have replicas of this tray available for sale.

Nishijin Play Tray – Version D

These two versions are found primarily on Nishijin Model B pachinko machines and on some Model A and Model C pachinko machines. Note that the trays are both the same even though the color of the lever and the trim on the top left may be a different color. The only difference is in the white frame around the clear window, the window, and the blue trim below the tray.
